Mr. Kennedy Released By WWE

May 30, 2009

Mr. Kennedy

Mr. Kennedy, who at one time was on the fast track to becoming a world champion in WWE, has been released, the company announced on its Web site earlier.

There are no details given as to why Kennedy was let go, but the assumption is that it’s due to his inability to stay healthy. After being out nine months with a dislocated shoulder, Kennedy returned to TV Monday in a 10-man tag team match on Raw and reportedly suffered a wrist injury during the match.

It was the latest in a string of injuries for Kennedy, 33, during his four years in WWE. Two months after winning the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 23 in 2007 – which most likely would have led to a world title run – he suffered a torn triceps.

When reporters asked Kennedy about his history of injuries in an interview this past January, he dismissed the suggestion that he was injury prone.

“You know, we’ve heard all the ‘Oh, Kennedy’s injury prone’ and all that stuff, but there are certain things that happen, and if you knew the whole story you wouldn’t necessarily think that,” he said. “I’ve just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. But it is frustrating. I had the Money in the Bank and was on the way to becoming a world champion and then injury struck. And it’s just been one thing after the other, but I just keep my head up. I was told a long time ago that if you have talent you cannot be denied and eventually good things will happen.”

During his relatively short time in wrestling, Kennedy has been somewhat of a controversial figure. Not long after he was adamant in a 2007 interview that he had not taken steroids since he signed with WWE, Kennedy was one of 10 WWE wrestlers suspended 30 days for violating the company’s Wellness Policy. The suspension came after he was among the wrestlers named in a report by Sports Illustrated as having received steroids and/or human growth hormone through Signature Pharmacy, a Florida pharmaceutical company that was under investigation.

Kennedy is definitely right about one thing, though: He has talent, and I will be shocked if he doesn’t end up in TNA.

WWE SmackDown – May 29, 2009

SmackDown - May 29, 2009

Carlos Hurtado attended Tuesday’s WWE Smackdown taping in Los Angeles .

Rey Mysterio came out and said the no holds barred match against Chris Jericho is gonna Be “Off the Hook” when Jericho’s Pyro/music hit and he made his way to the ring. My ears are still ringing from his pyro. it was ridiculously loud it scared the shit out of the old lady sitting by me. I was worried that the next firework wold give her a heart attack.

Jericho came out and called us hypocrites, parasites, and tape worms. A lot of people booed and a lot laughed. Micky Rourke was in the front row. Jericho said he would punch him in the face, but he’s not worth it. Jericho said he’s too professional to do something like that. He also asked Rey why he wore a mask.

He said that people who wear masks are losers, criminals, or people who have something to hide. Rey came back with a stupid comeback and said, “shut up!” He said no one cares about what Jericho had to say.. Jericho said he promised to beat him so bad then remove his mask during their Extreme Rules match. Rey kicked him into the ropes and tried to hit the 619, but Jericho escaped.

WWE Was a Rockin and a Ballin at Los Angeles, California

wwe-news.jpg

  • Vince McMahon, chairman of the WWE, promised that Monday Night Raw was going to be expecting and fun this past week, and he was true to his word. In fact Mr. McMahon opened the show explaining why they were in L.A. instead of in Denver.
  • Seems that E. Stan Kroenke, Owner of the Denver Nuggets, double booked the WWE and the Nuggets. Very poor organizing on the part of Kroenke. He leaves little to be desired as far as having a good head for business.
  • The WWE thought they would have to cancel their show(very much unheard of). Word got out that the WWE had no place to air their show and the offers came pouring in. Vince decided to go with the Staples Center in L.A.
  • They got word out and the tickets went on sale and it wasn’t before long, they were all sold out. The Lakers (the Denver Nuggets’ rivals) were more than happy to have the WWE in their arena. In fact some of the players and coaches were in attendance.
  • Mr. McMahon confronted an imitation of Kroenke in the ring and set him straight. Vince told him that he Enos couldn’t play with the WWE Universe. Guess Enos doesn’t like wrestling or its fans.
  • Kroenke didn’t have the brains to call Vince to tell him his organization had messed up and needed Vince to help him out with the situation. Enos may be a good coach but his brains go are out to lunch when it comes to business.
  • Vince had one hell of a show in spite of everything that happened. There was a 10-man tag team match featuring John Cena, Batista, MVP, Jerry ” The King” Lawler and making the 5th partner—Mr. Kennedy. They were rockin and a ballin!
  • Their opponents were Big Show, Cody Rhodes, Ted Dibiase Jr. The Miz and Randy Orton.
  • John Cena’s team wore L.A Lakers shirts and Randy Orton’s team wore Denver Nuggets gear. That didn’t help; Randy’s team went down. Don’t get me wrong, Orton’s and Cena”s team wrestled a very close match. At times it looked like a battlefield. It could’ve gone either way.
  • It was a very classy and exciting show. Vince out did himself. The fans were happy and the Lakers were too.
